What we did in 2020...
NEW Foxfield Grass Course
We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to the ongoing hospitality and generosity of the new Foxfield Board of Directors, we will be hosting, for the first time ever, a course totally on a finely manicured grass path around the scenic, rolling perimeter of this magnificent property! The last time humans were permitted to run or walk over the grass paths of Foxfield was when UVa hosted the NCAA Cross Country Championships in the fall of 1987!
And because we anticipate that many of you will want to walk or run this exciting and beautiful historic new course, we have set up “time slots” for your walking or running safety and convenience.
These Foxfield course slots are as follows: 6:15am, 6:45am, 7:15am, 7:45am and 8:15am on each of the four days (9/4, 9/5, 9/6 and 9/7). Each half hour slot will have 40 openings. So, over the four days, there will be spots for a total of 800 participants on this gorgeous new course, although at any given time only forty folks will be out on the paths.
You obviously do NOT need to finish the four mile course in a half hour, you simply have to start at any time during your reserved half hour slot. These spots will be available on a first come first serve basis, so to be a part of this historical debut over this beautiful new course, we encourage you to reserve your preferred spot ASAP!

And to keep everyone safe and distanced, the course, unlike our usual out and back Garth Road course, will have two wide parallel but separate paths (one for runners and one for walkers) that will be one continuous loop around the perimeter of Foxfield. Masks will be required until after you start and all volunteers will be masked as well. Details on all of our safety protocols for this new Foxfield version, plus the new course map, will be emailed to you the week of the race. And worried about getting your feet wet? Then bring a dry pair of shoes and socks for the drive home. Let’s have some fun!
ANYWHERE VIRTUAL COURSES
We totally understand it if you can’t make it to Foxfield over the weekend, especially those of you who live out of town. That’s totally fine but we’d still love to have you be a part of this special fundraising event, so please feel free to run or walk a four mile course of your choosing close to home.
